How does it work?
The laser emits a source of intense energy that is absorbed by the dark pigment
in your hair. At the same time a chilled tip is used which protects the surrounding
skin and other tissue from the heat generated by the laser and also helps reduce
the pain.
With repeated use, the laser damages the cells surrounding the hair shaft as well
as the bulb of the hair. The laser only effectively treats the hair in the growth
cycle, and different areas of the body have different growth cycles. Therefore, we
treat each area at different intervals ranging from 4 to 8 weeks. Several
treatments are needed at these intervals to achieve maximum results. Response
depends on the hair color and the skin type and may vary from person to person.
Preparation for Laser Treatment
For best results, it is important that hair being treated have
pigment in it so it can absorb laser energy. If you wax pluck
or bleach,you should stop doing that for few weeks prior to
treatments but you can shave during that time.
The day of the treatment, you should shave the area prior to
coming for the treatment. If you are having large areas treated
or you are very pain sensitive, you may be prescribed a
numbing cream which you should apply 45-60 minutes prior
to laser treatment.
